About Dr. Urooj

Dr. Usman Urooj, DPM, DABPM, AACFAS is a board-certified reconstructive foot and ankle surgeon based in Paradise Valley, Arizona.  His passion for medicine began early, and his strong interest in science led him to the University of North Texas, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology with honors in 2014. He went on to receive his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree in 2018 from the Arizona College of Podiatric Medicine at Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona. Dr. Urooj is an Associate of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.

Following medical school, Dr. Urooj completed his residency training in Foot and Ankle Medicine and Surgery at the Carl T. Hayden Medical Center. His residency provided extensive inpatient, outpatient, clinical, and surgical experience, including rigorous rotations in Internal Medicine, Infectious Disease, Emergency Medicine, General Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Plastic Surgery, and Orthopedic Surgery. Throughout his training, he managed a high volume of complex foot and ankle conditions and gained significant experience in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery.

During his final year of residency, Dr. Urooj was selected as Chief Resident. He graduated with the highest surgical case volume in his class, exceeding program requirements, and contributed to multiple published articles focused on medical and surgical foot and ankle treatments.

​

After residency, Dr. Urooj completed an additional year of postgraduate advanced training, further specializing in complex foot and ankle reconstruction. He then joined a busy private practice in Goodyear, Arizona. In 2025, after approximately 12 years of education and training and over four years of private practice experience, he founded Action Foot & Ankle Specialists with the goal of providing comprehensive, patient-centered, and advanced foot and ankle medical and surgical care.

Outside of the office, Dr. Urooj enjoys spending time with his wife, Aneela, and their two children, Shaan and Arya. His hobbies include drumming and cooking. He is currently learning piano alongside his 4 year old son.

​

Dr. Urooj speaks three languages and is fluent in English, Urdu, and Hindi.
